Israelis Unimpressed by Bomb Disarming Robot

by David  •  21 July 08

On a recent trip to Tel Aviv, I woke up to the unmistakable sound of three gunshots outside my hotel window. The source: a bomb-disarming robot neutralizing an unattended backpack.

Turned out to be nothing, of course, but as I filmed the below clip, I was struck by the normalcy of the whole scene. For the runners, bicyclists and commuters on the street, it all seemed to be little more than an inconvenience.

Forgive my naivete, but I guess that’s what it’s come to in Israel.

A brief attempt at researching the model and manufacturer of the robot led me nowhere, so if you have more information on it, please let me know.
